Nutrients

Our team is experienced in testing for nutrient levels in water and soil. Their detailed analysis is conducted using a combination of discrete analysers, flow injection analysers and ion chromatographs. The list below provides an indication of the broad range of nutrients that can be tested for. Contact us today for more details.

Scope of test

Total nitrogen

Sum of nitrate, nitrite, organic nitrogen and ammoniacal nitrogen. Excess nitrogen promotes growth of toxic blue-green algae and plants in a water body

Total phosphorus

Sum of ortho-phosphate and phosphorus. Excess phosphorus promotes growth of toxic blue-green algae and plants in a water body

Dissolved reactive phosphorus

Mobile form of phosphorus, can promote growth of weeds and algae within a water body

Total dissolved nitrogen

Sum of dissolved inorganic and organic nitrogen. Estimate of nitrogen available to phytoplankton

Ammoniacal nitrogen

Can form ammonia in water which can be toxic to aquatic life. Often tested in of discharge wastewater

Total kjeldahl nitrogen

Sum of organic nitrogen, ammonia, and ammonium

Nitrate

Occurs naturally in soil, commonly used in fertilizers

Sulphate

Found in minerals, soils, plants, rocks, and food. Can be used in fertilizers
