Organics

Our organic chemistry department is primarily involved with the analysis of carbon containing compounds in waters, soil, shellfish, and air. Using the latest technology such as gas chromatographs (GC) and liquid chromatographs (LC) with mass spectrometry (MS) we can detect herbicides, pesticides, cyanotoxins, endocrine disruptors, pharmaceutical products, PFAS and a variety of other compounds at low levels. Our team can also detect and analyse petroleum hydrocarbons and trace level chlorinated compounds.

Scope of test

1080

Predator control toxin that is soluble in water

Acid herbicides

Group of compounds used for broadleaf weed control in both agricultural and non-agricultural applications

Alcohols

Organic compound that carries at least one hydroxyl functional group. It is commonly known is ethanol found in alcoholic beverages

Aldehydes

Used in the production of resins and plastics

Cyanotoxins

Toxins produced by cyanobacteria (blue-green algae)

Dihaloacetonitriles (DBP)

Formed during the disinfection process of water with chlorine

Endocrine disruptors

Disrupt hormonal systems in humans, found in household and industrial products

Haloacetic acids

Formed during the disinfection process of water with chlorine
